Bubbles are a favorite pastime of our family.
Obviously, while doing so, we're outside in the sunshine. Later I had a dream of sorts one night in April of 2008...where our entire patio was covered with one massive bubble...and into it we could pour various colors and watch them dance around and above us ...further on in the dream, I added a sunscreen solution to it...and it was all the rage amongst humans.

I honestly believe this could work. Version 1 would have a slow air supply keeping it inflated...tiny and quiet.

A simpler design would be this one:

The simple, light-weight hollow tube frame of version 2 would slowly drip a strong bubble solution up and around a radius.

Using a one dimensional frame to block the sunlight. I'm sure the aesthetic appeal of the Nebula Shield would be enough for most to install it, adding a cooling-coloring agent and/or sunscreen benefits would make it an interesting invention - as noted by the dripping fountain at the base of V2.
